Is this a free clinic?
San Diego Family Care clinics are not free clinics. We are non-profit community health centers. We offer a sliding fee scale to all patients based upon family size and income.
What free services do the clinics have?
We offer several state funded programs that provide free services if you are eligible. Eligibility is based on family size and income. We can also provide information regarding California’s health insurance exchange. Please call the clinic for more details about these programs.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, we prefer that you have an appointment but same-day appointments are available.
Do you accept checks?
No, Please note that we accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card.
Do you have translators for non-English speaking patients?
Yes! We provide translation in Spanish, Vietnamese, Lao, Tagalog, French, and Russian. Please make your language needs known ahead of your appointment and we will be able to accommodate you.
Do you have dental services?
We do offer dental services in-house at our Linda Vista location or by referral.
Do I have to see a doctor first for a vaccination?
Yes, please make an appointment for a vaccination. However, pediatric patients do not need an appointment for vaccinations.
Do I have to see the doctor for a refill on my medicine?
Usually it is not necessary. Patients who are actively being seen by a provider at any health center site may call their pharmacy to send a refill request to their health center. Your request will be processed by a staff member and you will be notified if you need to come in for an appointment.
Do you have any teen services?
Yes, we have a teen program devoted to meeting the health needs of teens.
How will I know my test results?
Our medical staff reviews all test results shortly after we receive them. This includes lab tests, imaging studies, and consultation reports from specialists. If any of the reports have significant findings, someone from the clinic will contact you.
When am I due for my next visit?
At the end of your appointment, our medical staff will let you know when you are due for your next visit. We encourage our patients to schedule their next visit before they leave the clinic.
Do you participate in clinical trials?
Yes, we participate in trials related to many diseases. Call the clinic for details.

- It is a new and better approach to your personal health care.
- You will now be part of a Care Team that includes your Primary Care Provider, Medical Assistant, Registered Nurse and Case Manager.
- Together, you and your health care team are responsible for your healthcare needs.
- Health care is about the whole person, both physical and behavioral health needs. We offer comprehensive care for both and can coordinate your healthcare needs
- The Care Team is in a partnership with you to set goals for your optimal health and assist you with self-management tools to achieve these goals. You will to receive evidence based care for your health from your Care Team.
- Please let your Care Team know when you have accessed an outside facility such as urgent care, the emergency room, hospital, specialist or behavioral health providers, in order to obtain records. This will help coordinate care and provide the best available information for all to communicate regarding your healthcare.

- If you are having an emergency, call 911.
- We are committed to providing equal access to care regardless of your ability to pay. We offer a Sliding Fee Schedule to all patients based on family size and income. We can also give you information about obtaining insurance coverage.
- Hours of operation vary by clinic location. Click here to find out when your clinic is open.
- After hours advice is available by calling the main number of your clinic location. The answering service will contact a provider or advice nurse who can answer your questions during the hours that the clinic is closed.
- Patient Portal: Our patients are encouraged to call or come in and join our Patient Portal by providing us with your email address. You can electronically access your health records and laboratory results, request an appointment or medication refills, or ask your doctor a non-urgent question.
