When it comes to health insurance, our goal is to educate and empower you with the tools you need to get covered and stay covered. Friendly members of our Outreach & Enrollment team are here to help with enrollment in Covered California, the health insurance marketplace where Californians can shop for health plans and access financial assistance. You can choose the health plan with the best services and value to you or find out if you qualify for Medi-Cal.
As part of the Affordable Care Act enacted in 2010, insurance cannot be dropped or denied if you have a pre-existing medical condition. You can sign up for a Covered California plan during the open enrollment period in the fall. You may also be eligible to sign up at any time during the year if you have a life-changing event such as losing health coverage, moving, getting married, having a baby, or adopting a child. Our experienced Certified Enrollment Counselors are here to assist you with free enrollment assistance services. During your visit, your counselor will answer any questions you may have about your healthcare. They’ll help you enroll in the plan or program that’s best for you and/or your family. Your counselor will also make sure you’re properly enrolled and that you know how to use your benefits.
You do not need to be a patient at San Diego Family Care to meet with our team of Certified Enrollment Counselors and discuss your options. Services are free.

San Diego Family Care Health Fair
Held every second Saturday of the Month at Linda Vista Health Care Center, the Health Fair offers limited free services:
Services include:
- Spirometry
- HIV testing
- STD screening
- Lab tests for Cholesterol and Diabetes
- Blood Pressure Screening

San Diego Family Care Diabetes Education
The diabetes education program includes group and individual counseling with Registered Dieticians and Nurses who can help you manage your diabetes, blood sugar and diet. Monthly group classes are also available in Spanish, English and Vietnamese.
Topics covered include:
- Getting to know your diabetes
- Preventing complications from uncontrolled diabetes
- Stress, depression and Diabetes
- Nutrition and Goal setting
